XML Web Services
XML Web Services offer a gateway into your online applications for your vendors and your suppliers. These gateways give you an edge over competitors who don't offer services that help your suppliers serve you better or help you serve your vendors more effectively.
What is XML Web Services?
XML Web Services were developed as an open standard to aid in extending an applications functional availability. What this means is that some functionality in an application becomes available to a distributed network of Windows and other Operating System applications and programs, including other website applications. XML Web services offer some noted advantages over other technologies. For the internet, it's biggest advantage is that it transmits xml which is text. Text can easily go through firewalls and protocols because it cannot in itself be executed.

What that means to your web site:
An XML Web Service makes your content more available. By being more available to other websites you can expose your content and your message past your website. A good example is the use of Web Services by Amazon.com's affiliate program. Their content is better spread throughout their associate program. For a local real estate, using web services could allow them to build other webistes or offer other sites content or ads that promote the real estate website.
